I took part in the Inter Counties Cross Country races at Prestwold Hall just outside of Loughborough. I ran for team Shropshire in the U13 boys class. There were about 300 boys in my race. It was a mass start with a lot of very competitive boys and was a level up from what I had been previously used to in the SYAL races. The course was very challenging with very thick mud – there was a real danger of losing a shoe (many did). I felt that there was a lot of pressure racing for my county as it was my first time. There were many tight spaces throughout the course which made progress through the field difficult, as at the start the track funnelled so much I almost stopped at one point. I, like many people, gave it my all and thoroughly enjoyed it. I finished 270th out of 290 of the best runners in the country. Many thanks to the club for giving me the opportunity to race cross country this season I’ve really enjoyed it and learnt a lot from the experience.
